Witnessing her father slip into dementia and questioning her own path, Phoebe is inspired to change her life by a young Latin teen's dream of being a dancer and her father's lifelong secret.

 

SYNOPSIS


While attempting to help her recently widowed, aging father, and realizing he is slipping into dementia, Phoebe is grappling with how to help him navigate this new chapter of his life. She stumbles upon his lifelong secret and in the end father and daughter reveal a part of themselves that neither of them knew. At the same time, a homeless teenage boy shares his dreams of being a dancer.

His passion ignites Phoebe’s own childhood dreams, giving her the courage to make a bold life choice and finally break a family cycle.

Not realizing the impact of his discouragement, her father provides the means to help his daughter and together they open a dance studio, offering a safe and empowering space for young dancers. Dreams and dance heal this strained father/daughter relationship, and the places we call "home" inspire the next generation of dancers.

MY PERSONAL STORY AND WHY I WROTE THIS

I have been passionate about my work as an actress and dancer for over 20-plus years. I am equally passionate about telling stories that have a social impact and inspire and uplift my audience. 

I was compelled to write my film Dancing Home because, from the time I was little, I wanted to be a dancer. The message I received was "that's not realistic, that's not practical, how will you make money, what about your future?"

Unlike the protagonist in my film, I did leave home to pursue my dance and acting career working on stage and screen for many years.

In my film Dancing Home, our protagonist has not followed her truth, and she is facing the consequences of her choices.
